Blood Testing in Brain Disorders: Innovation to Community Impact
Event Details
Blood-based biomarkers are emerging as transformative tools for the diagnosis, prognosis, and management of neurological disorders. The UBC Core Facility for Neurology Biomarker Innovation (CFNBI) is Canada’s most comprehensive site for neurology biomarker research, connecting world-class laboratory medicine infrastructure and expertise with academic, clinical, industry, community, and government partners to accelerate the development, validation, and implementation of blood-based biomarkers. Through its commitment to scientific excellence and collaborative research, CFNBI has established itself as a leader in neurology biomarker innovation, committed to serving all Canadians.
Building on the momentum generated by our 2026 meeting and recognizing both the opportunities and challenges associated with integrating neurological biomarkers into clinical care across Canada, we are expanding the conference to a national stage in 2027. The conference will be held in Ottawa, providing a unique platform to bring together federal policymakers, national health organizations, researchers, clinicians, industry partners, and patient advocacy groups. This next iteration will focus not only on the latest scientific advances in biomarker research, but also on the policy, regulatory, infrastructure, reimbursement, and implementation considerations required to translate these discoveries into routine clinical practice.
In 2027, we are featuring the TRANSCENDENT Concussion Research Program, led by local researcher Dr. Roger Zemek, Senior Scientist at the CHEO Research Institute and Professor at the University of Ottawa.
